Here is a great YouTube video of the Spyderco Bushcraft being demostrated at the SHOT Show 2011 by a Spyderco rep. – thanks to 2brothersadventures

Bushcraft is a tradition as much as a sport. It follows a regime of survival skills derived originally from Bushmen of the southern hemisphere. It’s mainstreamed today by UK resident Ray Mears through his televised programs outlining how to thrive and survive with only a knife both skillfully and comfortably in nature.

Spyderco’s version of a Bushcraft knife results from a three-fold collaboration between Tactical Bushcrafter Chris Claycombe, a Bushcraft website in the UK and Spyderco designers.

Knives used in the practice of Bushcraft have specific parameters such as possessing blades between 4-6 inches. Spyderco’s is typical of the genre with a 4-inch blade (no handguard) that’s fully-tanged. The blade is a Scandinavian or Scandi grind. Scandi edges have a single bevel grind, wide and flat that cuts with strength and is able to withstand twisting and hacking. The blade is made from O-1 tool steel. Bushcrafters generally don’t seek the characteristics of stainless over the performance of high-carbon edge retention, and is why traditional Bushcraft knives are produced using tool steel for their blades. O-1’s high carbon content holds a long-term edge but also sharpens easily when laying on a new edge.

The black G-10 handle is contoured for comfort with a backup lanyard hole and the knife carries in a leather sheath. It is overall blueprinted for performing wilderness chores such as slicing, chopping, whittling and game processing all done in traditional Bushcraft style.

This one is coming soon, mid November. Time to get your pre-orders in right now, just in time for Christmas. Knowing what we know about new Spyderco Knives, this will be a hit & likely tough to find at first.

The Warrior fixed blade is one of the world’s most intriguing combat knives. Based largely on the groundbreaking research of close-combat icon Michael Echanis, the original Warrior was a radical design intended primarily for use with reverse-grip tactics inspired by the Korean martial art of HwaRangDo. Produced in limited quantities by the late Al Mar and later resurrected by the martial artist Bob Taylor and Echnais contemporary Randy Wanner, it is one of the most coveted combat knives ever made.

The Spyderco Warrior faithfully retains all the salient features of the original, while adding a number of performance enhancements. Its revitalization happened at the request of our Israeli customer, Guy Rafaeli.

Ground from rust-free austenitic H-1 steel, it possesses the same differential hardness properties of a clay-tempered Samurai sword, giving it extreme cutting power and shock resistance. Its full-tang construction and textured handle scales provide a superior grip and edge orientation, maximizing the knife’s effectiveness when employed with its signature tactics. The sheath is a black ballistic nylon snap-closed sheath with Molle-vest attachment capability.

You can pre-order the Spyderco Warrior over at KC, we also found 8 reviews listed.
