One look at this one & we need to get one, looking forward to playing with the Spyderco Balance, what a cool looking knife.

Balance is a state of equilibrium or equal distribution. In our case it’s an Ed Schempp folder that is symmetrical on each end when closed. Odd looks aside, when in the hand it’s ergonomically proportional and a natural fit. The VG-10 blade rears up in a radical curve with a deep finger choil. When the index finger sits in the choil, the blade feels like an extension of your hand. The enlarged Spyderco Round Hole is dead center on the blade when closed and perfectly off-centered when open, positioning the thumb for smooth one-hand use. Carbon fiber handle. Screw together construction. Four way, left/right, tip-up/tip-down hourglass stainless clip. Piped lanyard. Symphonic fit and finish.

We do, especially when CRKT designs these beauties!

Award-winning knife designer Allen Elishewitz has lived in the Far East and has practiced martial arts over the past 30 years, including Okinawan Te, Thai Boxing, Northern Shaolin and Kali. This training, along with his experience as a Recon Marine, gave Allen the perfect background to design these defensive writing instruments, CRKT Tao Pens.

In Chinese philosophy, Tao means "the way," the fundamental or true nature of the world. And appropriately, these pens reflect the current state of today's world, in which a sudden, unforeseen physical attack can come at any time.

Allen notes, "These pen designs are evolutions of the custom tactical pens I have offered successfully for many years. However, they are very different from the other aggressive-looking pens and kubotans on the market, that is, they do not look threatening, but are useful high-tech writing instruments with a stylish and futuristic design. If the user is threatened or attacked, the pens can be used at three levels of defensive force, depending on the type of threat.

"At the lowest level of engagement, the impact crown on the cap can be used to strike the assailant on the head or hands by raking or thrusting. This provides notice of self defense, and may deter the attacker with minimal injury to him.

"At the second level, the more pointed butt of the pen may be used to thrust or provide a disabling pressure point behind the ears, at the armpit or throat.

"At the third level, if the attack persists, the pen point may be thrust for penetration in soft tissues of the throat, chest or abdomen with potentially lethal results if the assailant does not break off the attack."

The pens are made of 6061 aluminum, precision-machined and hard anodized. The heavy cap is threaded so that it will not pull off in use, and castellated for greater impact. The flutes and grooves on the pen, combined with the pewter-toned stainless steel pocket clip, provide a secure grip.

Who the heck is Bob Lum? You may not have heard of him yet, but you will. A custom knifemaker of Chinese heritage, Bob takes traditional Asian knife designs and infuses them with all things modern. Case in point is the C65TIP Spyderco Bob Lum Chinese Folder. The blade is tapered like a leaf, broad, flat and razor thin along the edge. This venerable leaf-shape has been around for centuries found on serviceable everyday cutting instruments in China. It’s a definite winner for general utility, hunting and tactical applications. The C65TIP has a 3 1/8 inch (80mm) flat-ground blade made of VG-10 steel. Matched up with titanium handles, it’s hard to say which reigns supreme, performance or eye appeal. The handle’s curvature ergonomically fits your hand for precise performance. A nested linerLock enhances lock strength, granting peace of mind when really muscling down on a cut. The pivot pin is eccentric and adjustable for wear. The Chinese Folder is a high-tech version of a time proven design.

Aerodynamically the bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly but someone forgot to tell the bee. The flight of the bumble bee defies both nature and one’s expectations that something that small can perform such a grand maneuver. Like bumblebees, Spyderco Bugs perform unexpectedly. The Bug, not much larger than a bee, is our latest addition. Last year Spyderco started offering SLIPITS which are non-locking slip-joint knives. They have no locking mechanism holding the blade open, relying instead on resistant pressure at the pivot area when the blade is extended and being used. Bugs are part of the SLIPIT group.

Radical blade grinds have been one of the signatures of SOG’s knives, but to produce these complex blade shapes and grinds requires the finest attention to detail. Perhaps this helps to explain why the Vulcan Fixed Blade (VFB) is so special. Each side of the knife has three separate grinds that come together to make a strong powerful knife. The reverse curve in the VG-10 blade is further evidence of this masterful craftsmanship. The full tang blade is clad with glass-reinforced Zytel scales that are textured in an intricate wave pattern, few could duplicate. It’s another signature that sets us apart. VFB... the premiere tactical knife for the modern militia.

Another one for the "WOW" category, would love to hear reviews.

WORLD PREMIER FROM BOKER: ELEGANT KITCHEN KNIFE MADE OF FORGED STAINLESS DAMASCUS.

BOKER DAMASCUS ROSE

The question is not if you can afford to own one. The question is if you can afford not to.

The Boker Damascus Rose reveals the true afficionado. The blade and handguard are made of one solid piece, to provide superior functionality, in short, the ultimate “art for work.”

For the 140th Anniversary, the Boker knife manufactory presented a world premier - the unique knife series “Damascus Rose.” It excites the ambitious cook, and also fascinates the technically oriented knife afficionado. 180 layers of stainless Damascus steel are forged in a complex and demanding process to one solid piece of blade and handguard. The result - a technical highlight and an aesthetic delicacy, because the beautiful rose pattern of the Damascus continues seamlessly from the razor sharp blade into the handguard.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE MADE OF PRECIOUS WENGE WOOD, WITH DAMASCUS TAIL CAP.

Extraordinary look and functionality are also provided by the handle. For every handle, the handguard is handfitted with a tail cap made of Damascus, which makes an attractive yet rugged unit of handle and blade.

To enhance the noble character of this series, Boker Damascus Rose, we chose the exquisite wood, Wenge. Also known as “wooden diamond,” Wenge is one of the most valuable woods in the world. The beautiful dark brown color and the fascinating structure make it a very sought after material for high quality inlays and furnishings. To provide perfect ergonomics, the R & D Department of the Boker Manufactory designed a special contoured waistline shape which provides perfect control and makes working with the Damascus Rose a true pleasure. Every single Boker Damascus Rose has an individual serial number and comes in a presentation case with a certificate of authenticity. The Boker Damascus Rose - unique and representative of innovative craftsmanship from the Boker Manufactory in Solingen, Germany. Allow yourself the amazing feeling of owning something truly special.

Did you know...
...that in the past, no knives were handed out in eating establishments because everybody carried his own knife anyway?

Depending whom you ask, Persistence means different things to different people. It means continuing without veering off course or changing function or structure. It describes ongoing existence regardless of interference or challenges. Some even say persistent personalities experience déjà vu more frequently due to their repetitive drive. We thought it a great name for a knife as it also means steadfastness and never-give-up-attitude. Spyderco’s C136 Persistence is the smaller version of the Tenacious Model, another reliable descriptive of human nature. We milled the black G-10 laminate handle with prolonged fatigue-free cutting in mind. Comfort in hand means easier use long-term. Skeletonized steel liners tucked inside the handle, increase the handle’s rigidity and strength level without adding non-functional weight or bulkiness. The 8Cr13MoV stainless blade is a modified skinning-style, ground-flat. Careful positioning of the oversized Spyderco Round Hole, relative to the location of the pivot, pre-set the hand in just the right spot for fumble-free one-hand blade open/close. Fully sharpened edge from tip to tang generates the most cutting edge possible for the blade’s length. A 4-way pocket clip lets the folder set tip-up/tip-down left-hand/right-hand. Walker Linerlock has a jimped liner. Screw together construction.
